Services

See Clinic offers a complete comprehensive general ophthalmic examination and advice, and required surgery can be arranged.

For chronic diseases like Glaucoma and Diabetes which can cause irreversible damage and even blindness, the clinic offers special examinations and tests for advice and management of the same, and also expert counselling to cope with the conditions. Both these conditions in the early stages may have no symptoms or even vision problems, and hence early diagnosis and proper management can often prevent complications.

About Dr. Walia

Dr Walia has been working as an Ophthalmologist for over 30 years (since 1985) and set up the first comprehensive eye unit in Kenya – out-patient, ward, and theatre all exclusive for Ophthalmology (1985-1988) while working in Nyeri.

He was the first Kenya Ophthalmic Program Coordinator and was responsible for starting the local production of eye drops for government eye clinics. He helped design and set up the first official curriculum for cataract surgery training for a large para-medical group of workers in Kenya. This course is still ongoing and trains the Ophthalmic Clinical Officers for this surgery.

He was the first Medical Director and Eye Surgeon in-charge at Sabatia Eye Hospital in Western Kenya and helped get the hospital started up in November 1996. In 2001, he became the Medical Director and Eye Surgeon in-charge at the Kikuyu Eye Unit, where he was until December 2010.

Over the years, Dr. Walia has been responsible for networking with other NGOs and government bodies for increasing awareness for eye care in Kenya and even beyond into Somalia and Sudan.

Dr. Walia started See Clinic in January 2011 with a mission to provide “Compassionate Eye Care with Integrity“. He also consults at the Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi Eye Clinic and is the Section Head of Ophthalmology in the Department of Surgery, Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi.
